“My association with Chaplain Nancy Niero was working as interdisciplinary team members providing hospice services in the Denver metro area. The phenomenon of isolation or inability to maintain social connection can become complicated at end of life. Patients, their families, friends, and community often suffer many losses prior to death and often includes participation in religious ritual.
“Nancy's ability and willingness to bring the ritual of anointing to the bedside was greatly appreciated. Her thoroughness in researching and studying the significance of this ritual provided spiritual palliation to patients. Nancy also participated in additional study in herbs and aromatherapy which added another level of comfort to her patients. She was able to obtain advanced certification in these arts and is a sought after practitioner in the community. The gift of these rituals by Nancy helped to make the services provided by this hospice group unique in the community.”
